Ahi Tuna Steak with Smashed Avocado and Chipotle Crema

An Unexpected Way to use TABASCO®

INGREDIENTS

Jalapeño Smashed Avocado

Tuna

  • 350g tuna loin filet
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 7g (1 tablespoon) chili powder
  • 30ml (2 tablespoons) vegetable oil, for searing

Chipotle Crema

  • 6 small coriander sprigs, chopped, for garnish
  • Tortilla chips, for serving
  • Fresh salad, for serving

PREPARATION

Prepare Jalapeño Smashed Avocado: In a small bowl, mash avocado with a fork and mix in the lime juice. Fold in the chopped coriander, jalapeño and TABASCO® Green Sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Prepare Tuna: Season tuna loin with salt, pepper and chili powder. Heat oil in a saute pan on high heat and sear on all four sides until rare, about 45 seconds per side. Let rest 5 minutes. Cut tuna into strips.

Prepare Chipotle Crema: In a small bowl, combineTABASCO® Chipotle Sauce and Mexican crema and set aside.

To serve, season the red part of the tuna with a little salt. Top with a dollop of Chipotle Crema and garnish with chopped coriander. Serve with tortilla chips and salad.
